About Us

The municipality of Sagbayan, part of the province of Bohol, has twenty-four (24) barangays. One of the biggest barangays is San Agustin where San Agustin National High School is located.

Fighting the problem of the high illiteracy rate in the community opened the door to the first public secondary school in Sagbayan. Its institutional history is anchored on the reality that people hungered for knowledge and education to sow the seed of what is now the San Agustin National High School.

The late Maximo Villamor, former Provincial DILG officer of the province of Bohol, conceived the school. His passion for being a man for others kindled his courage to take the first step to help low-income families whose children have less opportunity to continue secondary education. And for the benefit of the young learners whose parents cannot afford to send them to distant neighboring public and private high schools; together with the former barangay captain Tito Soquillo and his councilmen, he was able to convince the late Dr. Edilberto Jumamoy, former mayor of Inabanga, to donate part of his lot for the establishment of a new public secondary school.

The school had undergone a metamorphosis from a lone classroom made of "nipa" thatched roofing and "amakan" as a wall to a modern twelve (13) concrete classrooms. Its human resource and capacity has grown since its first year of operation in 1994. From an enrolment of 54 students, it is now almost nine (9) hundred. From a manpower of two teachers, the faculty is now composed of thirty-seven (37) qualified mentors.

1997 marked another important milestone in the history of San Agustin National High School when it was integrated into the general appropriation thru Republic Act. No. 8319, authored by the late Erico B. Aumentado, former Congressman in the 2nd District of Bohol.

The school is one of the four (4) complete secondary schools in the District of Sagbayan with the biggest enrollment. Vegetables are the common source of income for the school.

Now, the journey continues in search of better outcomes. More aspirations, more opportunities were identified. Thus hopes to drive the spirit of unity for all to see the rays of dawn.
